Scilab is a software of scientific simulation.
It can operate with vectors, matrices, images, state space, and other kinds of situations.
I've been working with Scilab since 2005, and I always have success in my projects using Scilab.
i come across your blog while trying to find information on using FFT to perform pattern discovery and matching... and i must say i love your work and dedication in teaching others about FOSS and good tools for students and researchers.
and the interactive ball demo is just great! is there any guide/paper on this? would love to try it out myself too...
